The Blessing of History
Sometimes we think what God promises in His work is impossible.
So what's new!
History is filled with persons who felt that way at one time or another.
However, God preserved a public record to show you and me how He brought
"impossibilities" to fruition.
That public record is the Bible.
The more we read it,
the more we are aware of God's awesome power.
"He has made known to His people the power of His works..."(Psalm 111:6).
This is one of the ways God's history blesses us and gives us hope.
Psalm 78:42 is a sad verse. It says,
"They did not remember His power."
This is what we do
when we cast history behind us,
never taking time to study it,
thinking it unimportant.
History records the will of God,
the acts of the Holy Spirit,
and the life of the Lord Jesus
as prophet, priest and. king.
It also records "what man is to believe concerning God, and what duty God requires of man." (Shorter C atechism, Q and A #3)
"And whatever you do - no matter what it is - in word or deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus
and in [dependence upon] His person,
giving praise to God the Father through Him."
(Colossians 3:17 Amplified Bible).
If something is missing in your life
and you feel you would like to know the Lord Jesus better and better,
may I suggest the following?
Open your Bible to the Book of John
(found in the New Testament)
and begin reading as you can.
Try to read a little every day, if possible.
As you read ask God to open your eyes and your heart and your understanding to His truth.
Ask Him to bless you and give you faith to believe and receive His truth into your heart and understanding.
Consider Reading these Bible verses:
1.Recognize your sins: (I John 1:9).
2. Turn from your sins: (Acts 3:19)
3. Trust in Jesus as your Savior: (Acts 16:30).
4. Ask Him to save your soul and give you His precious gift of salvation. (Matthew 11:28;
John 7:37; John 6:37).
