"If you love Me,
you will keep my commandments"
How easily we associate our love for God with a feeling, when He says the real test of love is
obedience to His commandments.
Lest we be mistaken about love,
Jesus made it clear what love is,
so we would not embrace a cheap definition.
Love must have a definite object,
a definite focus.
That object and focus must always be the sovereign God.
He Himself is love.
Our obedience to His Word is evidence of our love.
If you truly love Him,
you will be grieved by the things that grieve Him,
and you will hate everything that separates you from fellowship with Him.
"And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments"
(2 John 1:6)
The sum of the Ten Commandments,
which is God's Law, is to love Him.
"For this is the love of God that we keep His commandments and His commandments are not burdensome." (I John 5:3).
"If anyone loves Me,
he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him,
and We will come to him
and make Our abode with him."
