Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul
Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul

              Conviction of Sin

Have mercy upon me,

O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude

of Your tender mercies

and loving-kindnesses

blot out my transgressions.

Psalm 51:1

The first indication that you are a Christian is your conviction of sin - your sin.

If you are a child of God

you will grieve over your disobedience, your lack of love for what Scripture says, and your indifference to the idea of repenting.

If you have a casual interest in worship and only attend to church fulfill some kind of obligation,

perhaps you have

had no conversion experience at all.

God's Word says, "Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness."

Do you hunger and thirst for God's truth, for the Holy Spirit's convicting presence in your life?

Repentance involves strong feelings,

not a casual "Oh well, I'm only human"response to sin.

Repentance is a change or reversal of mind - a conviction of sin, a deep desire to obey God and follow Him at all cost.

How long has it been since you recognized specific sins in your life and cried out to God to strip those sins away from you?

Trust in Him today. Reject the darkness of sin that is all around you

and specifically the sin that dwells in your heart.

Look to and depend upon God's divine revelation, and the pure light of the Holy Spirit leading you into His truth.

True love to God is being honest with Him, with yourself and with others.

If you boast of fellowship with God, and yet do not receive the revelation of His Word, you lie, and know not the truth.
