Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul
Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Proverbs 26:12

Pride is an ongoing,

prevailing sin.

It spills out of our hearts

and creeps into everything,

unless we recognize and repent of it.

And if we fail to deprive its power,

it grows stronger.

Pride controls our thoughts

and actions

while disregarding God's presence,

His Word

and His sovereign administration

over us and everything.

Pride leads us to foolishly think

our lives are determined

solely by our free will,

with absolutely no divine intervention.

Our unbridled thoughts and actions puff us up in praise of our victories

and our clever accomplishments.

As Christians we must be vigilant to recognize how strong pride really is

and how it separates us

from sweet fellowship

with our Savior

and with others.

"Pride goes before destruction,

and a haughty spirit

before stumbling"

(Proverbs 16:18).

If this devotional has caused you to think about your own life, consider asking God to:

"Create within me a  pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."

Hear God's call.

Consider reading His Word

evwery day.

Commit passages to memory.

Be obedient to His message - found in Holy Scripture.

"Seek the Lord while He may be found;

Call upon Him while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way

and the unrighteous man his thoughts;

And let him return to the Lord,

and He will have compassion on him,

and to our God,

for He will abundantly pardon"

(Isaiah 55:6,7).

"Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion; put on your beautiful garments . . ."

Isaiah 52:1

Have a glorious day in the Lord.

I would love to hear from you.
