"The heart is more deceitful
than all else
and is desperately sick;
Who can understand it?
I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,
even to give to each man
according to his ways,
according to the results of his deeds." Jeremiah 17:9,10
God sometimes leaves us to ourselves
that we may not only discover
the hidden strength of our corruptions,
but realize the deceitfulness of our heart.
The purpose of God in doing this is two-fold:
first,to correct our sinfulness;
second,to humble us
and bring us to a greater discovery
and dependence upon Him.
Search me,O God, and know my heart;
try me and know my anxious thoughts;
and see if there be any hurtful way in me,
and lead me in the everlasting way
Whatever battles you have today, be comforted in the truth that Christ Jesus has already conquered those battles with all their influence and power.
Take courage. There is no longer any power remaining, but what the Lord Jesus Christ permits.
No matter the fierceness of your trials, be of good cheer.
Let your hope be in Him who has already disarmed wickedness and has established
victory over evil in every way
