Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul
Finding Hope, Not Hope - So, For Your Soul

                   God's Love

"I have loved you [just]as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love - continue in His love with Me. If you keep My commandments - you will abide in My love and live on in it; just as I have obeyed My Father's commandments and live on in His love. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."
John 15:9,10 Amplified Bible

Does what you know about God,
help you in your daily life?
Are you able to depend upon specific verses in the Bible
to supply  what you need?

If you aren't reading God's Word or memorizing His promises,
perhaps you might consider doing that.

Perhaps you fear you won't be able to understand what you read,
unless you are already familiar with the Bible.

If you have never read a road map you will not likely understand it either until you become familiar with it.

So, try this....
Open your Bible. Select a book to read, perhaps the Gospel of John
(In the New Testament).
Ask God to help you understand it as you read.
Ask Him to help you realize the true condition of your life and your need for His saving grace - His love.

God wants you to trust Him.
He wants you to repent of your sins... not what you think is sin,
but what He says is sin in the Bible.
The Holy Spirit will help you with this, IF He is drawing you to Himself, He will change your heart
and cause you to reflect on the sins in your life and feel intense grief.
Only God can forgive sin.

Only He can cleanse you of your quilt and shame and make you a new creation.
Then God will give you the gift of faith. This gift is completely of Him.
He will enable you to turn from sin and turn to Him.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes upon Him will be saved. "

There is a difference between

the true and blessed hearer of God's Word, and the person who misses the blessing because he hears to forget.

He does not purpose to remember.

He does no listen intently

to "get" God's message and obey it.

He is content to sit in the pew

as if he is fulfilling his Sunday obligation to worship,

and nothing more.

He is fooling himself if he thinks his behavior will profit him anything.

Regarding the Looking glass:

To every hearer the true Word of God is a looking glass, a mirror.

Scripture gives us a true reflection of our nature, (even though we often think it is talking to and about our neighbor and not us).

The looking glass of the Word

is not like any other looking-glass,

which merely shows you your external features.

God's looking-glass shows your true nature.

When you read and hear the Word you may not only see your actions there,

but your motives, your desires, your inward condition is revealed plain before your eyes.

In contrast to the person who sees himself but doesn't really see who he really is,

the other hearer does see himself

in the mirrow of God's Word.

He is thoughtful and welcoming of God's truth, because he is confident it alone is what he needs,

he realizes God's truth applies to him.

He spies out the application of what God's Word is saying and quickly embraces it, ready to apply it and make the necessary changes.

God says this person is blessed because he is "not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work."

May God bless this to your heart.
