Ask and Have
"You are jealous and covet
[what others have]
and your desires go unfulfilled;
[so] you become murderers.
[To hate is to murder
as far as your hearts are concerned.]
You burn with envy and anger
and are not able to obtain
[the gratification, the contentment and the happiness that you seek],
so you fight and war.
You do not have because you do not ask.
[Or] you do ask [God for them]
and you fail to receive,
beause you ask with wrong
purpose and evil, selfish motives.
Your intention is,
[when you get what you desire]
to spend it in sensual pleasures.
James 4:2,3 Amplified Bible
Perhaps you lust after certain things that you do not have.
You long to be happy;
however you are not!
You desire but you do not obtain.
You dream of being great,
but you are not.
Have you considered talking to God about your desires?
Have you searched the Scriptures to see if your desires line up with the will of God?
Whether you like it our not,
asking is the rule of the kingdom.
It is God's method of giving you
what is best for you.
"Ask and you shall receive," He says.
Remember how God blessed Elijah and sent reain on Israel?
Elijah had first to do what?
To pray for it.
Then he had to wait for it.
Then he had to presevere in living day by day
until the cloud formed in the sky... the sign of rain.
Then the rains came.
And Elijah received the blessing he had hoped and prayed for.
Exmine your prayers. Are they selfish?
Are you praying that God's will will be done on earth as it is in Heaven?
When God answers your prayers
are you stimulated to keep on praying, keep on asking Him for that which glorifies Him and works together for your good?
Be on guard that you put away jealousy and coveteousness.
If you recognize those awful sins in your heart,
ask God to create within you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you.
Also, examine your cravings. If they do not line up with God's
talk to Him about them.
Repent and turn from your sinful way
and ask Him to make Himself known to you through His wonderful Word.
