Finding Hope in God's Everlasting, Intimate Friendship

The Promiser

If a friend says they will call you in the morning and  they never call, are you likely to believe them the next time they make a promise?

Unlike unfaithful friends, God's promises are sure. He is faithful, in fact He has never once been unfaithful.

"The promises of God are the jewelry of the Bible. Every page of His sacred volume is rich and sparkling with divine assurances of Jehovah's love, faithfulness, and power towards His people" [Octavius Windslow [d.1878] The Precious Things of God, p.90.]

God's promises are precious because they come from Him, the Promiser. What are these promises? They are the unfolding of the heart of God; they are the revelation of the mind of God, the will of God. Where do we find these promises? Answer: In the Bible. The Bible is filled with hundreds of promises that God has for us, both for His children and those who are not His children.

Are you troubled? Are you in deep pain? Do you feel there is no one to help? God says, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me (Psalm 50:15).

A promise is nothing to you if we do not know the Promiser. If you have no idea of the Promiser's character and his faithfulness, you won't know whether or not you can depend upon the promise.

When God told Abraham, who was about a hundred years old,and Sarah, who was ninety years old (Genesis 17:17), that they were going to have a baby in their old age, they "staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief" (Romans 4:20). They did not question or distrust the Promiser. Instead, they believed God because they judged Him faithful who had promised (Hebrews 11:11). Abraham and Sarah would have "staggered" at the promises of God, but they knew God, the Promiser, was reliable, trustworthy, faithful and true to His word.

Dear one, search out the jewels, the diamonds and the pearls in Scripture that pertains to your needs. Place your trust in The Promiser, whose promises are recorded for you in His word. That which is impossible with men is possible with God. Trust in the Promiser. Take hold of His promises today.
