Righting Wrongs

If there is anything we all want, it is the righting of all that's wrong.
R.J. Rushdoony said,"Because man is created in God's image, he is geared to law, and he wants the moral order of the universe righted, and the moral order of his soul restored."
"In the Bible, restitution is the principal goal of the penal sanctions. This restitution principle is basic to Biblical Law. The 'eye for an eye' principle speaks not of retaliation [getting even], but of restitution [punishing those who do wrong and restoring the damages to full satisfaction]." (Rushdoony as quoted by Morecraft in Commentary on Leviticus, 133).
Think about it. Why do you have insurance on your home? If a thief breaks into your home and steals the gold necklace your grandmother gave you before she died, will the thief ever repent and give the necklace back to you? No, don't even think about it because it's not going to happen. That's why you have insurance on your home and the contents. While you want the necklace to be restored to you, you yourself must pay for the costly insurance to cover the stolen items that likely can never be replaced. Your insurance may provide some measure of restitution, but not the thief.

Restitution (restoration) is what we pray for when we say "May your kingdom come and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" Matthew 6:10.
Again, "The large insurance premiums paid by responsible persons and corporations are their self-protection against the failure of the law to require restitution" R.J. Rushdoony.
NOW LET ME LEAVE YOU WITH WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND HOPE:
You don't have to be discouraged that the world does not right every wrong at the present time; however. . . There is ONE PERSON who does and will right every wrong. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, "Who before was designated and appointed for you, Jesus, Whom heaven must receive [and retain] until the time for the complete restoration [underline added] of all that God spoke by the mouth of all His holy prophets for ages past -- from the most ancient time in the memory of man" (Acts 3:20,21 AMP).
And in light of that truth, God says to you and to me: "So repent - - change your mind and purpose; turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing - - or recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air - - may come from the presence of the Lord;" (vs. 19). In other words, let us - - you and me - - first repent and make restitution of our own wrong doings, so God's judgments won't be upon us, but that His forgiveness, life and light, will be upon us instead.
BY THE WAY: REJOICE, THERE WILL BE COMPLETE RESTORATION.
My Mother was not a person who held grudges. She was not bitter because someone sinned against her. She knew what God wanted her to do and she did it! She trusted God's word. Even as a little girl, I remember Mother saying, "One day God will right all the wrongs." Mother was right!
